Intent:
To provide financial assistance to members who are experiencing financial hardships that might otherwise prevent them from continuing with Eclipse.
To provide discount membership to attract and/or retain members who fall into an 'under-represented' demographic, e.g. basses, tenors, 'youth' members.
Form:
May be in the form of a part or full term membership fee
Eligibility:
All members or potential members
Executive must approve Bursary availability based on the financial health of the organization
Exception:
It is part of the legal obligations of an elected board of a registered charitable organization that each individual must operate without conflict of interest. As such, members of the Executive are NOT eligible to apply for a bursary under this policy.
Process:
A request for bursary assistance is submitted to any member of the Executive.
This can be in person, or via phone/text/email as preferred by the applicant.
The Executive member will present the Bursary request to the Executive, who will discuss the request. If necessary, a special meeting will be convened to discuss the Bursary application.
Requests will be evaluated to ensure that the spirit and intent of the bursaries are maintained.
The number of bursaries available will be based on the financial health of the organization.
All applications will be held in strictest confidence by Executive members.
No corroborating financial information will be requested by the Executive.
The Treasurer and / or President will inform the applicant within 2 weeks whether the bursary request has been approved or rejected.
Names of bursary applicants/recipients will not be made available to the membership at large.
